Heavenly Father’s Sense of Humor

If you think that God doesn’t like to have fun once in awhile, think again. It’s been HOT in Hawaii this week. Very hot and humid. It doesn’t get as hot here as many of the other places that I’ve lived: Oregon, Texas, New Mexico, but the humidity makes it seem like it.

Yesterday it wasn’t as bad, and even rained a little in the evening (while we were walking to the grocery store of course).

Then today, it’s cold, windy, and rainy.

Guess He was getting kind of bored and decided to liven up our lives a little bit!

The very rainy BYUH campus right now:

Finally, the GRE is over!

All the stress has been relieved. I got up early and cleaned the bathroom yesterday. I have nine roommates and every week five of us have some sort of cleaning duty to do, so we get every other week off and only repeat duties every ten weeks. It’s a good system. Anyhow, yesterday I had the bathroom and I wanted to do it before I showered. After getting ready I did stress-relieving things before going into town.

As a nice bonus, an acquaintance, Kimra, was on the same bus also going into town, so I didn’t have to sit there and agonize over the test, but got to talk to her instead.
After getting off the bus downtown, I searched for a place to eat lunch. I didn’t want to get hungry and therefore, distracted, during the test. The only place I saw nearby was McDonalds. Probably not the best test food, but it worked. I got to the testing center about 45 minutes early and they let me start early.

There’s not really much to say about the test. I thought the prompt I was given for argument analyzing was a bit ridiculous and didn’t really know what to say about it. When taking the GRE, you are always given one section twice as part of their research process to improve their testing methods. You have no way of knowing which of the two is the one that is actually scores so you have to treat both as important. Much to my dismay, I had to repeat the quantitative section! I would have much rather done the verbal section twice. Lame, huh?

My scores weren’t so bad that I’m embarrassed of them, but I think I’m going to take it again in August in Camarillo just to see if I do better with some more prep time. Lindsey is maybe going to take it with me. Maybe I'll be better at studying with the two of us motivating each other. And maybe not!

All in all it was quite a good day. I can’t believe what it does for the body to be relieved of a huge stress load. I feel so good now and am able to think about other things, like my trip to San Francisco this weekend. I’ve got to review the research and make sure I’m prepared to talk about it! I’m pretty excited.

Is it Memorial Day weekend yet?

On May 21, I'm flying to San Francisco for an APS convention to present a research project. While I'm there I'm going to see Wicked with several of the other students!!! I'm so excited! Can you tell? I've been listening to the Soundtrack a lot lately and it makes me even more excited. I'm also going to go to the Oakland Temple while I'm there. Gorgeous temple. And I miss the temple since ours has been closed since December for remodeling.

It's just that right now 2 1/2 week seems like a really long time. Especially because between now and then I've got the GRE and 12 2:10 classes and five 3:10 classes. And 50 hours of work. That's a lot of monotonous, boring hours.

I think I can make it though. Guess I have to!!! :)

This is NOT Fun!!!

The more I study for the GRE, the more convinced I become that I am not going to be admitted to graduate school. I suck. I can't do math, and I have a normal vocabulary, but GRE words are not "normal." I'm going to be stuck being a loser for the rest of my life, because I have no plans if I don't get accepted to grad school.

Kind of hard to read

Sorry about that. I just don't want to go through everytime I change my background and change all the font colors. If you can't see it, just highlight it.
